PGP Key Maintenance

PGP Key Maintenance is the tool used to manage all your PGP encryption keys. All keys, user names and passwords are encrypted before they are stored in the database.

Information on the RSA algorithm can be found here.

Information on the DSA algorithm can be found here.

Information on the ElGamal algorithm can be found here.

Generating New Keys

First, let's generate a PGP key. Right click the PGP Keys blank white area and click Generate New.

The Generate Key dialog box will appear. Enter a short name, user name, password, key bits, the algorithm you want to use and the expiration in days.

Enter "My Encryption Key Set" in the Short Name field. Enter your username in the user name field, and select a password for the password field. Enter 1024 keybits using the RSA algorithm that expires in 0 days, which means it will never expire. Click the [Generate] button.

Your public and private key set will appear in the PGP Key Maintenance form. From here you can change any part of the PGP Key, except the Id.

Adding Existing Keys

You can also store your existing keys. Right click the PGP Keys blank white area and click Add New.

The PGP Key portion of the form will clear all the fields and set the Id to 0, representing an unsaved key. Now you can enter information pertaining to your existing keys. Let's enter some information.

Enter "My Existing Key Set" in the name field, paste the following in the public key and secret key fields:

Enter your user name and passphrase in those respective fields.

Click [Save] and a confirmation dialog will appear with the new PGP Key Id, in this example, 32.

Deleting Keys

To delete an unwanted key, click the key in the PGP Keys list and right click, then click [Delete]. Let's delete the existing key we just entered.

A confirmation box will appear. Click the [OK] button to delete this key.

You will receive a confirmation that the key was deleted and the key no longer appears on the key list.

Since these PGP Keys can be linked to an Action Node, deleting is not recommended unless you are absolutely sure no active schedules are using it.
